Music Ministry

During a “normal” year without the current pandemic, below is what the RUMC music department would look like. HOPEFULLY, we can get
back to some normalcy this Fall. Please keep watching this website for future updates and announcements regarding our department. For right
now, in place of the chancel choir, there are 4 singers sharing special music each Sunday during the 10:30 AM service.

The Roscoe UMC music department offers a variety of opportunities for those that would like to share their musical and God given talents with
the congregation.

The chancel choir rehearses from 7:00 - 8:00 PM on Wednesdays through out the academic school year. The evening is not complete without
a time of sharing & prayer. The choir sings during the 10:30 AM service. For those that play an instrument(s), a small ensemble helps to accompany
the hymns and presents preludes, offertories & postludes about every 6 weeks, Easter and Christmas.

The entire music department produces and presents a Christmas cantata the second or third Sunday of December for the 10:30 AM service
complete with orchestration & narration. Audience participation is encouraged in the singing of The Hallelujah Chorus at the conclusion of
that service.

We host Musik Fest in the Spring which is 4 - 6 choirs singing enmasse several anthems and hymns complete with orchestration of 12 - 15
instruments plus piano and organ. Each choir has an opportunity to present 2 songs individually.

The music department hosts collegiate chorales, bands or individuals/groups once or twice a year. Some of the groups include:
Moody Bible Institute Chorale & Band, Malone University Chorale, Indiana Wesleyan University Chorale, Brentwood (TN) UMC 125-voice youth choir, Gospel pianists Dino Kartsonakis, Timothy Noble, Calvin Taylor and Southern Gospel quartet Ernie Haas & Signature Sound, etc.

Continue to check this website for future dates of guest artists and/or groups.
