The Roscoe UMC music department offers a variety of opportunities for those that would like to share their musical and God given talents with the congregation.
The chancel choir rehearses from 7:00 - 8:00 PM on Wednesdays through out the academic school year. The evening is not complete without a time of sharing & prayer. The choir sings during the 10:30 AM service. For those that play an instrument, a small ensemble helps to accompany the hymns and presents preludes, offertories & postludes about every 6 weeks.
The entire music department produces and presents a Christmas cantata the second or third Sunday of December for the 10:30 AM & 6:00 PM services complete with orchestration & narration. Audience participation is encouraged in the singing of The Hallelujah Chorus at the conclusion of the services.
We host Music Fest in the Spring which is 4 - 6 area church choirs singing en masse several anthems and hymns complete with orchestration of 12 - 15 instruments plus piano and organ.
The music department hosts collegiate chorales, bands or individuals once or twice a year. Some of the groups include: Moody Bible Institute Chorale and Band, Malone University Chorale , Indiana Wesleyan University Chorale, Brentwood (TN) UMC 125-voice youth choir, pianist Dino, etc. Continue to check this website for future dates of guest artists and/or groups.
We truly believe as did Charles Wesley who once said, “There are more souls sung into Heaven than ever through the spoken Word”. Our goal is “Leading Souls to Christ” through great sacred music that will stir the soul.
