Internal Family Systems (IFS) is a therapy model created by Dr Richard Swartz to help people see the 'internal parts' of themselves more clearly, and to open more clear communication within ourselves, so we can understand the conflicts that can exist in our complex emotions, feelings and (specifically) internal reactions to life-changing events. What does that mean? Have you ever felt like 'part' of you is stuck (or trapped) in repetitive feelings? Maybe it's sorrow and loss- or maybe 'part' of you feels angry... or afraid... or enraged... or constantly worrying... We all can develop these feelings, as we 'fake it to make it' through life, pretending that some internal 'part' of ourselves isn't struggling, while we go about our normal day. Rather than ignoring these problems, wouldn't it be better to focus on the simple solutions to help these 'parts' find peace? IFS does that, where you can learn how to improve your 'internal communication' and find peace. Looking for some answers? Wanting to help a friend or family member? Maybe just interested to learn more? See you in class!
